Looking online I see Enhanced Elites like yours do indeed have E2 grips. Here's a P226 Dark Elite with a serial number very close to yours and it obviously has a beavertail. Well, I've researched this a little more and some things are not jiving. Anyhow, it's still a SIG, and probably a great shooter. Did your gun by any chance come with a red box or case? That's the tell tale sign it's CPO. I have seen CPO guns with many non-original parts. This leads me to believe your gun is either a Frankensig, or more likely was a CPO (certified pre-owned). Elite models also have the extended beavertail. This means the slide is probably not original to the frame. The "Elite" models didn't come out until later, also. Your 2003 SIG would not have come from the factory with E2 grips, or a barrel with DE on it. I also don't think SIG started using E2 grips til around the same time. I don't believe SIG started putting DE on the barrels until around 2009. I have two newer SIGs (P229R and P239) that both have DE on the barrel. The DE on the barrel means it was produced in the Germany (Deutchland). Serial numbers on the frame are mandated by the ATFE. |
